You Are Not Descended From Heroes

j.h.

You are not descended from heroes

Hercules’ blood does not flow through you

You do not share Achilles’ strength

And you are not loved like Aphrodite

Greatness does not follow you

The gods do not rule in your favor

You are not descended from heroes

You are descended from beasts

Your skin is that of the Nemean Lion

Medusa's eyes shine in yours

You crave freedom just like Icarus

And Cleopatra's crown sits on your head

Lucifer's vengeance is the only thing you know

The same fire that burned witches,

burns inside you like hell fire

Your blood may not be that of legends

But legends are nothing without a villain

Your ancestors may not be heroes

But heroes can only fight so long

And monsters never tire

Heroes may be loved

But beasts are feared

And isn't that better?
